Lucio Florio
Lucio Florio studied in La Plata, Rome (San Tommaso d’Aquino University) and Buenos Aires (Universidad Católica Argentina). He is a Doctor in Theology for the Universidad Católica Argentina.He teaches in the High Seminary of La Plata, at the UCA and at the Santo Tomás de Aquino University.Florio has been the leader of the La Plata Metanexus LS since 2006 until today. He is also the president of the “Fundación Ciencia y Religión en Diálogo (DECYR)”.Florio has written some articles about Trinitarian theology and about Science and Religion -as for example, the contribution in the book of the ESSSAT: “Wisdom or Knowledge. Science, Theology and Cultural Dynamic” (edited by Meissinger, H., Drees, W. And Liana , Z., T & T Clark, London 2006). He also published in Spain the book: Mapa trinitario del mundo. Actualización del tema de la percepción del Dios trinitario en la experiencia histórica del creyente (Trinitarian Map of the World. Updating of the Perception of the Trinitarian God in the Believer’s Historic Experience), Salamanca: Secretariado Trinitario, 2000.He is member of the ESSSAT and he takes part of de board of the Argentinean edition of the Communio magazine, an international publication dedicated to connecting theology and culture.
Eugenio Urrutia Albisua
Prof. Eugenio Urrutia-Albisua is Research Director at Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) in Puebla, Mexico. He coordinates almost 200 research projects from several fields of knowledge. He is also Founder-Director of the “Centro de Estudios en Ciencia y Religión” (Center for Science and Religion Studies, CECIR) a Local Society Initiative supported by Metanexus Institute in Philadelphia, USA. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from UPAEP, Mexico. His Master’s degree in Sciences in Food Technology from IATA, Spain. And his MBA from UPAEP. Frequently, invited professor at UPAEP Faculty of philosophy for presenting themes related to Philosophy of science and philosophy of nature. Amateur astronomer, founder of UPAEP Astronomical Club. He has edited a book “Ciencia y Religión Hoy: Diálogos en Torno a la Naturaleza”. He has translated the book Physics, Philosophy and Theology (edited by Coyne, Russell and Stoeger) He has organized a Latin American Conference in Science and Religion (2002), and he has collaborated co-organizing a Latin American Conference in La Plata, Argentina (2003) and in La Havana, Cuba in 2006.
Jorge Papanicolau
Jorge Papanicolau holds a MSc in Electronics Engineering (Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires, 1989), MA and PhD in Theology (Universidad Catòlica Argentina, 2002 & 2005) and MA in Economic History (Universidad de Buenos Aires, 2007). Former Assistant Director of the Institute for Integration of Knowledge (UCA), he is the author of Cosmic Christology. Biblical Foundations, historical approach and systematic reflection (Epifanía, Buenos Aires, 2005). He has also written several papers about the relevance of the science and theology dialogue and the importance of interdisciplinarity as the right epistemological approach for complex issues that trespass the boundaries of the current scientific fields.
Daniel Blanco
Daniel Blanco holds an A-level in Theology (Seminario Adventista Latinoamericano de Teología – SALT, 1995), a University degree in Theology (Universidad Ardentista del Plata - UAP, 1998) and a University degree in Biodiversity (Universidad Nacional del Litoral – UNL, 2005). At present, he is doing his PhD on Epistemology and History of Science (Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero – UNTREF). He is an Epistemology professor and member of several research projects related to historical and philosophical questions concerning the evolution theory.
Carlos Ramos Rosete
Carlos Ramos Rosete holds a university degree in Philosophy from Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP). He graduated in 1994 with the thesis: “La persona humana en Sto. Tomás de Aquino” (The Human Person in Saint Thomas Aquinas). Moreover, in 2006 he got his Master’s Degree in Philosophy from Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (Univa) with the thesis:”El Personalismo Comunitario de Emmanuel Mounier” (The Community Personalism of Emmanuel Mounier).Since 1992, he has been a full time professor at UPAEP in History of Ancient Philosophy, History of Philosophy in Mexico, Philosophy of Science and Logics. He has published two books: Introducción a la Cosmovisión Nahuatl (Introduction to Nahuatl Worldview) (UPAEP Edotorial, Mexico, 2006) and Aproximaciones al Misterio de Dios, (Approaches to the Mystery of God) (UPAEP Editorial, Mexico, 2007) as well as several articles and communications on philosophy and on science and religion.
Ignacio Silva
Ignacio Silva holds a Licence degree in Philosophy at the Universidad Católica Argentina (2003), having studied Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle and a Thomistic interpretation of indeterminism in nature for his dissertation. He has studied History and Philosophy of science at the Universidad Tres de Febrero (2003-4), in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been a Junior Research Fellow at the Universidad General Sarmiento (2005), on a project about counterfactual causation and indeterminism in nature. He holds a Master of Studies in Science and Religion of the University of Oxford (2006), and now is doing his research for his doctoral dissertation on Divine Action in Nature at the University of Oxford.
María Lila Bertolin
Maria Lila Bertolin holds a university degree in Biological Sciences (Universidad de Buenos Aires, 2006).At present she is doing her PhD on Trophic Relations of Antartic Ecosystems (Universidad Nacional de La Plata). She is an intern at Consejo Nacional de investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) and participates in several research projects related to Antarctic ecosystem monitoring (Instituto Antártico Argentino and CONICET).
Adrián Yalj
Adrian Yalj is an advanced Philosophy student at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He is currently specializing in Practical Philosophy and is interested in subjects related to science and religious thinking in general. His keen interest in the Islamic faith and thinking began a personal quest that resulted in his conversion to Islam in 2007.
Claudio Bollini
Claudio Roberto Bollini is a married layman who is a Scientific Programmer for the CNEA (Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica) and a Doctor in Theology “Summa Cum Laude” for the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA). He has also been a professor of Fundamental & Dogmatic Theology for several years for the UCA. He has published an essay on Eschatology titled “Allí seremos plenamente hombres” (”We Will be Complete Men There”) (Ed. Paulinas, 1994); a Theology handbook for university students: “El Acontecimiento de Dios” (”The Event of God”) (EDUCA, 2003), which second edition is about to be published. His doctoral thesis: “Fe Cristiana y Final de Universo” (”Christian Faith and the End of the World”) (Ed. Tesis Teológicas de la Facultad Teología, 2007) and the essay “Las Caricaturas de la Fe” (”Caricatures of Faith”) (Ed. San Pablo) are being printed at present.
